Answer is pretty simple... You probably updated your monitor since last time. The spawnrate of the enemies is tied to the refresh rate of your monitor :/ That is why it is so much harder. And yes that is the most stupid way of doing that. I have no clue why the developer did that.

This game became WAY too difficult. Before it was fun but challenging, now, within 5 to 10 minutes max, the centre of the arena is FILLED with larger enemies, all bundled up together, giving you no way to gain more troops without getting ganked on by the entire middle section.
Just looking at the page for Hold to Resurrect, and not gonna lie...it kinda looks like a re-skin of RCTN (again, this is ONLY based on the way it's page looks, got the game downloading rn lol)
have you tried running the executable file? there should be a file that ends in .exe and you should just have to double click it or right click it and click "Run" or "Run as admin"
New enemies shows up /spawn-rate too fast for a very small map, <wtf>making </wtf>the situation where every group of enemies just join in together and beat the F out of you happens on every gameplay, maybe it need a balance of somehow ?
Edit: somehow the word <wtf> appear even there is nothing there
i didn't even get time to get a army i keep dying because i get no time to have a army before the boss come up the time before the big guys come out please
It's nice to see a game like this! I also did something quite similar to this in 48 hours for a hackathon, the game is called War of the Geeks and released it on Itch.io.

What's your refresh rate look like? Turns out the game was made around running at 60 fps.
